On Aug. 16, Myers told PlayWV that regulators were getting near final approval on some sports betting apps being reviewed. He said that the Wire Act was an issue and operators still worked to comply with regulations.
“There is no holdup in the country side. The lottery has advised them how a system needs to be set up because 2018. A few of our control solutions suppliers initially provided a system which didn’t fulfill those requirements along with the lottery refused approval of those according to the needs of this Federal Wire Act.”

After the BetLucky program was closed down in March that came. Delaware North, the operator of Mardis Gras Sportsbook and Wheeling Island Sportsbook casinos, partnered with Miomni on the stage.
After a dispute involving a third party European software firm the operation unraveled. Miomni and delaware North are in court.
On Wednesday, Legal Sports Report detailed how things went sour. Miomni is now battling on 2 continents in court — at one lawsuit in the UK using confronting and EnterG another.
“A pricing dispute created a rift between EnterG and Miomni that ultimately left DNG [Delaware North] with no solution for sports betting, effectively shuttering WV sports betting in March,” the report notes.
“Miomni never got the intellectual property sought, also EnterG all but vanished from the radar. Now it’s up for the courts to choose who’s responsible and parties possess that pieces of the puzzle.”
Beyond the entanglement, the dissolution led to the shutdown of their Mardi Gras and Wheeling Island sportsbooks. That’s led to a sports gambling market in the state.
With the news of the arrival of FanDuel and DraftKings, that may change soon. Lots of West Virginia bettors will keep their fingers crossed.
